Female Body Shape
Ever notice that basically each person has unique body shape?
Last year, I attended a wokshop which had a them on “Image Personality”. It is a 3 hours workshop. From there I learned that basically human (in this case FEMALE) has 4 types of body shape. I guess some of you might have known it, some only had half understanding about it. But just wanna share in case some of you don’t even ever heard about that.
Well, I try to gather some information and my main source is from Wikipedia. Mmm, though not complete enough as what I want to write it down here, but I guess it’s enough to explain about the 4 types of female body shape.
There are three big points on female body that we firstly have to pay attention of. The three points are:
- Chest, which is measured across the fullest part of the bust
- Waist, which is usually measured at the smallest circumference of the abdomen
- Hips, which is usually measured at the largest circumference of the hips and buttocks
Now from there we can learn to differ the 4 body shape that I mentioned earlier. Basically, from the workshop I attended that day, the instructor explained it very simple how to see what kind of body shape you have.
Well..well..well…actually….just straight to the point what is that!?? Ok..ok..hang on there, here you go!

There are 4 types of female body shape, which are:
- Apple (Triangle downward)
- Simply say, people with apple/triangle shape, normally they are looked heavy on top. Their shoulder is wider than their hip. Normally if they gain weight, obviously can be seen firstly on the shoulder and arm parts.
- Banana or Straight
- The name of the shape tell it all. Straight! Between shoulder, waist and hip, are all aligned well. If you use a long ruler and stand it along the side of your shoulder down to your hip, you will find that the ruler is stand straight. In another words, the shoulder is same wide as hip and vice versa.
- Pear or Spoon or Bell (Triangle upward)
- Simply say again, this is opposite of apple shape. Pear/spoon shape normally looks heavy on bottom because they have wider hip than shoulder.
- Hourglass shape
- Well, people says that women with hourglass shape is what men crazy for! Cause women with hourglass shape has wide shoulder and hip, meanwhile they have small waist. Guitar shape. Or can be said this way. They have body shape which is big on part where it supposed to be big and small on part which is supposed to be small. Balance. Beautiful. Ideal body shape. I totally agree that this body shape is great. At least it is balance on top and bottom. Hahaha..But I found that women with this body shape also must be very careful. Cause once they gain weight, all the fat will not only shown on one of the parts of their body, but it can be seen on the shoulder and their hip as well. =)
For me, all type of body shape has its plus and minus. The most important thing is we know how to expose the plus side of our body shape and decrease the exposure of the weakness from our body shape. One of the solution is by the way how we choose our clothing. We will discuss about this topic on our next article. For now, it’s better to have better understanding first on which type of body shape we have. As I shared earlier, you may use big ruler or long stick to help you for it. So..try it out, gals!
